Please follow the steps below to ensure Mandatory Course compliance. To ensure full compliance, each member must register for and purchase the Course separately. Multiple people may not complete the Course using a single registration.
- Get sworn in by the D.C. Court of Appeals.
The D.C. Court of Appeals Committee on Admissions oversees the application, admission, and swearing-in process. The D.C. Bar is not involved in the administration of the bar exam or determining who will be admitted to the practice of law in D.C. The Committee on Admissions can be reached by phone at 202.879.2710 or by email at [email protected].
- Complete your D.C. Bar Membership Registration
You will receive a Bar number no more than 30 days after the submission of your initial registration statement. If you do not receive your Bar number or have questions about your member profile and/or membership status, contact Member Services at [email protected] or 202-626-3475.
- Purchase the Mandatory Course on-demand video presentation.
You will find the Mandatory Course available for purchase in the D.C. Bar Online Catalog. Click here to register.
- Complete the Mandatory Course on-demand video presentation.
You must COMPLETE the Mandatory Course within 12 months of your swearing-in date.
- Demonstrate compliance by inputting codes.
At the conclusion of the course, you will receive a link to input a series of random codes that were displayed and announced during the presentation. Input the codes to demonstrate compliance.
- Download your certificate for your records.
Download your certificate of completion for your records. You will receive the certificate by email; it will also be available for download in your D.C. Bar account.
No further action is needed. If you have received your certificate by email or downloaded it from your D.C. Bar account, you are fully compliant. You do not have to submit a copy to the D.C. Bar. Please keep the certificate for your records.
If you are seeking additional information about Mandatory Course registration, accreditation, accommodations, curriculum, or certificate of completion, please contact the CLE Department at [email protected]. If you have questions about your compliance deadline, email the Mandatory Course Compliance Office at [email protected].
